After record high temperatures on Thursday, the National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a freeze warning overnight from 1 am until Saturday morning at 9 am that includes all of southern Illinois and much of western Kentucky.
The warning so far does not include the counties of Fulton, Hickman, Carlisle, Graves and Calloway.
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 are expected.
Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Highs on Saturday will only rise into the 50s, and Saturday night could dip back into the upper 30s.
Warmer than average temperatures will return on Sunday and Monday.
