Frank "Doc" Hideg passes at age 84

A long time fixture in the medical field and baseball in Paducah has passed away.

Dr. Frank "Doc" Hideg died Monday morning at the age of 84.  Hideg was a native of Madison, IL and began his chiropractic career in Paducah in 1969.  He received numerous honors over his chiropractic career.

Hideg also loved baseball and served as the manager of the Paducah Post 31 American Legion team from 1974-1997.  

Following in the footsteps of his friend and mentor, J. Polk Brooks, Hideg is credited for saving Brooks Stadium from demolition by securing labor and funding to restore and renovate the ballpark.

He was dedicated to meticulously maintaining the field for more than 30 years and was extremely proud and humbled that “Doc Hideg Field” was named in his honor.

Hideg is also credited for his role in bringing the Paducah Chiefs back to the area, providing yet another opportunity to promote the game he loved so much.

Visitation will be held on Thursday at Brooks Stadium from 5-8 pm.  A Funeral Mass will be at St. Francis de Sales on Friday at 11 am.
