Crews will begin mobilizing equipment today for Paducah's dog park relocation project from Stuart Nelson Park to Bob Noble Park.
In November, city commissioners approved a contract with Evrard Company for the project since construction will start in 2024 on the Paducah Sports Park, which will use a portion of Stuart Nelson Park.
During construction in Noble Park, access into the area adjacent to the Anna Baumer Building behind the amphitheater will be limited to construction crews and city staff.
The dog parks are expected to open to the public in February. The dog park at Noble Park will open before the current dog park at Stuart Nelson Park closes for Sports Park construction.
The project also includes roadway improvements into that section of Noble Park as well as a parking lot and pedestal water fountains. The final roadway surface will be placed in the spring after the asphalt plants reopen.
The dog park area at Noble Park will be similar in size to the current dog parks, has natural shade and open running space for dogs. Plus, it is secluded from Lake Montgomery and its associated waterfowl.
