Crittenden County Schools are the latest area system to face online threats.
In a message sent Friday to parents of middle and high school students, administrators said that a Snapchat post of a concerning nature made its way through the student body. Crittenden County Middle and High Schools were put on soft lockdown during the investigation, meaning the day continued behind closed, locked doors. Administrators, though, said that there was no active threat.
After the soft lockdown was lifted, extra law enforcement remained on campus for the rest of the day.
Several other west Kentucky schools were included in similar social media posts this week. The same thing has been happening in southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, and across the country.
