A crash Tuesday morning on Oaks Road involving a McCracken County school bus and a car sent one to the hospital.
McCracken County Sheriff's deputies said that 41-year-old Ryan Trowbridge allegedly tried to pass a bus and some stopped traffic on Oaks Road just before 7 a.m. Witnesses told police the bus had just picked up a student and they heard the Trowbridge accelerate in an attempt to go by in a no-passing zone with a double yellow line.
Investigators said that the tires of the car dropped off the side of the road and the driver lost control The car turned sideways and struck the bus.
First responders and school personnel arrived on the scene shortly after to check on the bus driver and the students on the bus--all were ok. Students were put on another bus for the trip to school.
Trowbridge was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries. He was issued a citation charging him with improper passing, reckless driving, failure to maintain insurance, and no or expired registration.
