A contract employee working at the McCracken County Regional Jail was arrested Monday accused of bringing contraband into the jail and having a relationship with an inmate.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, jail employees were tipped off that an employee of the dining company that served the inmates was bringing contraband items into the facility. Chief Deputy Jailer called in detectives after an initial investigation.

Investigators found that 44-year-old Misty Young of Paducah was bringing items into the jail and giving them to inmates. Additionally, they discovered that she reportedly had an intimate relationship with an inmate while under contract as part of the kitchen staff.

Young has been charged with sexual abuse, official misconduct, and promoting contraband. She was taken to the Ballard County Jail.
