Colorado woman flown to Nashville hospital after crash in Lyon County

A Colorado woman was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Lyon County on Wednesday night.

The crash happened just along US 641 about 4 miles north of Eddyville. When Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies got to the scene, they found a heavily damaged vehicle, but no driver.

The driver was located during a search of the nearby cornfield. The woman, later identified as 38-year-old Ashley M. Meads-Lemon of Greeley, Colorado, was unresponsive when they found her. She had reportedly been ejected from the vehicle.

Investigators believe Meads-Lemon was traveling on US 641 and didn’t make the curve near Coleman-Doles Road. Her vehicle ran off the road, hit a mailbox and the headwall of a concrete culvert, then rolled over, ejecting her.

An AirEvac helicopter was called in to fly her to a Nashville Hospital for treatment of what were described as life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol and speed were believed to be factors in the crash. The road was blocked for about an hour and a half for investigation and cleanup.
