After a chilly 44 on Thanksgiving, tonight's low will dip to 24. Friday will bring more sunshine and not so breezy at 43.
A snow to rain transition is expected overnight into Saturday morning. Before the switchover to rain, snow may produce some slushy roads and sidewalks in the Ozark Foothills and I-64 corridor where accumulations of 1-2 inches are possible, more on grassy surfaces, with less on roads.
Expectations are leaning toward a trace of snow for most of western Kentucky, half an inch for southernmost Illinois, and an inch for Mt. Vernon. Three inches are possible in St. Louis.
After a high of 43, afternoon rain will transition to possible snow Saturday night but negligible snow accumulations are expected.
Temperatures will be cold through early next week with the coldest temperatures early week with highs in the mid-30s and lows in the lower 20s. Another system is forecast early week with some wintry weather potential.
