On September 28th, the Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office assisted by the Bardwell City Police Department and the Ballard County Jail executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of East Court Street in Bardwell,. At the time of the search warrant, 47-year-old Cheryl Gatewood and her children, a 17-year-old female, and a 16-year-old male were in the residence.

Items seized during the search included methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription narcotics, and various forms of drug paraphernalia including scales and baggies used for the packaging and sale of narcotics. Additional evidence uncovered indicated that Ms. Gatewood had been using illegal drugs with her children. Gatewood was charged with Unlawful Transaction with a minor 1st Degree, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Trafficking in A Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, and Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container. She was lodged at the Ballard County Detention Center.

The Department of Children Based Services responded to the location and due to the conditions in the home the minors were removed, taken to a medical facility for evaluation and placed in a safe location. The DCBS investigation is continuing.

Additional evidence recovered during the search of the residence indicated 22-year-old Daryinota Rudolph of Bardwell may have contributed to the narcotics at the residence. Mr. Rudolph was currently lodged at the Ballard County Detention Center on charges he earned on September 20th, 2023, when he fled from the Gatewood address and was eventually apprehended hiding in his mother’s closet on Cheatham Street in Bardwell.

He was wanted on an arrest warrant charging him with theft of lottery tickets from Huck’s in Bardwell on a previous date. He also had an outstanding warrant out of Graves County for traffic and marijuana offenses. His additional charges included Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Fleeing and Evading 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, and Obstructing Governmental Operations.

A search warrant to seize and examine Mr. Rudolph’s cell phone from the Ballard County Jail was applied for and granted. That phone was taken to the Paducah Police Department’s Digital Forensics Unit and was analyzed. A review of the evidence obtained by the Paducah Police Department was conducted. That review led to charges being filed Thursday night against Rudolph.

Those charges are 4 counts of Unlawful Transaction with a minor 1st Degree-illegal sex act under 18 years of age, and 4 counts of Use of a Minor in a Sexual Performance. Both of those charges are Class C Felonies in the Commonwealth of KY. Additional charges for narcotics violations involving the minor children are anticipated.
