After a successful six months following their reopening, the Calvert Drive-In will close the season this weekend.
New owners Seth and Tabitha Manea reopened the drive-in on June 16th, bringing with it the famous cheeseburgers. The Maneas told West Kentucky Star that they have learned a lot and had a lot of fun in this first season. They also expressed appreciation for the support they have received and for the work of their dedicated staff.
The closure during December and January will allow them to perform needed maintenance on the projection system, concession building, and box office.
The Maneas purchased the facility earlier this year, reviving it for its 70th year. The Harrington family first opened the drive-in in 1953.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be the final nights for the season. Thursday evening "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" with be paired with "Bad Santa." Then on Friday and Saturday "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" will be paired with "Gremlins."
Gates open each day at 4 p.m.
The Maneas said they expect to be back open in February or March and have several special events planned for 2024 including a car show and a solar eclipse viewing party.
