A Calloway County man who led authorities on a pair of manhunts in recent years will spend time in prison on gun charges.
U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett said in a statement that 49-year-old Ronnie Harold Sharp was sentenced on charges of firearms possession by a convicted felon. Sharp was reportedly in possession of a pair of handguns when he was arrested in 2022. He was prohibited from owning or possessing guns after previous felony convictions in 2013 that included theft of an automobile, fleeing or evading police, and manufacturing meth. He was also convicted of the manufacture of meth in 2005.
Sharp will serve three years and 10 months in prison plus three years of supervised release on the gun charges. There is no parole in the federal system.
Sharp was also the subject of manhunts in Calloway County and west Tennessee during both 2022 and 2023.
