The National Weather Service in Paducah continues to watch for the arrival of frigid Arctic air for the first days of December.
Meteorologists say confidence is high that temperatures may fall as low as 20 degrees below normal this weekend, and especially Sunday through Tuesday next week.
During that period, highs will be in the lower to mid 30s and low temperatures will fall into the teens. Wind chills during the morning could feel like single digits.
No impactful winter precipitation is expected, but some light snow showers might be seen on Saturday into Sunday.
The long-range outlook says that even colder temperatures can't be ruled out shortly after this upcoming bout of frigid weather.
