Congressman Mike Bost and the FAA have delivered $2.3 million in grants for a pair of Southern Illinois airports.

Veterans Airport in Marion and MidAmerica Airport in Mascoutah are receiving the grants for infrastructure and safety upgrades. Veterans was awarded $1,176,548 for the purchase of a new firefighting and rescue vehicle, along with medical kits and protective equipment. MidAmerica is slated to receive $1,149,763 to make sure the property is brought up to FAA standards.

Bost said, "Southern Illinois is emerging as a transportation hub for our region, and Veterans Airport and MidAmerica Airport are critical transportation assets. These investments will help ensure both airports have safe and reliable infrastructure they need to continue protecting travelers and creating economic opportunities for the region."

The awards were announced on Monday.
