Governor Andy Beshear has appointed an interim judge-executive for Livingston County to serve until a special election in November.
Beshear appointed attorney and Livingston Central graduate Teris Swanson. Swanson said in a social media post, "Humbled, excited, and honored are not strong enough words to express how I feel about this opportunity to serve my fellow Livingston County residents. My love for this county runs deep. It’s the most beautiful county with the most amazing people. I humbly ask for your vote this November. I will work hard to earn it!"
Swanson graduated from Murray State and Southern Illinois University School of Law, and works as an attorney at the Bryant Law Center in Paducah.
Swanson was sworn in at a special ceremony Tuesday at 11 a.m., at the courthouse in Smithland. The Livingston County Fiscal Court is scheduled to meet Tuesday night at 5 p.m.
Former Judge Garrett Gruber announced his resignation from that post on Tuesday, January 2nd, effective immediately. Gruber departed Livingston County to resume his military service, moving into a full-time role with the Kentucky Army National Guard.
