Benton Electric warns of phone scam

Benton Electric System is warning the public of a new phone scam.

Benton Electric said they have received reports of a woman making calls claiming to be a representative with the company. 

The caller reportedly demanded payment and threatened to disconnect electric service if a payment wasn't made during the phone call.

Benton Electric reminds the public they will never contact customers by phone and demand a payment or personal information. 

Customers should not give out banking or personal information over the phone.
