Barkley Airport gets $8 million federal grant for runway rehab

The Barkley Regional Airport Authority has received an $8 million federal grant for its runway project.

The airport authority said it received notification on Tuesday from Congressman James Comer’s Office that they received $8.1 million to finish Phase II of its Runway 5/23 Rehabilitation project.

Construction is expected to begin next spring with completion in about five months. The contract for the project was previously awarded to Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers.

Electrical work on the project will be finished by Mott Electric and Story Electrical Service, both of Paducah.
