A wanted North Carolina man was arrested on several charges in Ballard County after being pulled over for speeding on Sunday.
The Ballard County Sheriff's Office said deputies reportedly saw a car traveling at a high rate of speed on Phillips Drive in Wickliffe.
After stopping the vehicle deputies learned the driver, Ronnie Dance of North Carolina, did not have a valid license and had an arrest warrant out of North Carolina.
Dance was placed under arrest and deputies said they found him in possession of a handgun. Dance is convicted felon and not legally allowed to possess firearms. Deputies said the serial number on the firearm had been scratched off.
K9 Kony was deployed and allegedly alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. Deputies then searched the vehicle and said they found a quantity of cocaine, digital scales, approximately $677 in cash and other items related to drug paraphernalia and drug trafficking.
A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Janson Strayhorn of Missouri, Strayhorn was reportedly found to be in possession of cocaine.
Dance was charged with speeding, being a fugitive from another state, trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating on a suspended license, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a defaced firearm, and promoting contraband.
Strayhorn was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
