Altercation at Mayfield Youth Development Center brings assault charge

A juvenile has been charged with assault after an altercation Saturday at the Mayfield Youth Development Center.

Kentucky State Police were called about a physical confrontation between juveniles at the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice facility. Troopers were able to get control of the scene and the juveniles followed orders to return to their units. 

One of the juveniles sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital. Another was charged with 2nd-degree assault and taken to the McCracken County Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
