An Arizona woman has been arrested in Metropolis on theft charges after a second encounter with police in as many weeks.

Metropolis Police said a clerk at the Marathon Speedy Mart on North 12th Street called and accused a woman of making herself a slushie and walking out of the store. Police recognized the woman on video as 32-year-old Jade S. Calmese of Avondale, Arizona. Officers knew she was staying at Fairmount Apartments and spotted her outside with a cup from the Speedy Mart. Despite orders from officers, Calmese went inside the apartment. Officers and her grandmother coaxed her back outside and she was arrested.

After Calmese was placed in the patrol car, she began making threats and kicking at the windows. She was taken to Massac Memorial Hospital and was not cooperative there either. Eventually, Calmese was taken to the Massac County Detention Center and charged with theft and obstruction.

Calmese was out on a notice to appear in a case involving a child left outside the gaming room at the Speedy Mart. In that case, she gave false identification and was found to have been wanted on a warrant from McCracken County.
