The Paducah Police Department will host its third annual Community Resource Expo and Drug Take Back Day at Ninth Street Church of Christ on Saturday, October 25.
This event from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. is designed to connect residents with local agencies and organizations that provide valuable services in our community, while also providing an opportunity for safe disposal of unused or expired medications.
Other organizaitons participating will include McCracken County ASAP, Mercy Health, Turning Point Recovery Community Center, Purchase District Health Department, and Four Rivers Regional Prevention Center. Additional Community Resource Expo vendors will include Baptist Health, Child Watch, Horizon Homecare, McCracken County Cooperative Extension, WC Young Community Center, and West Kentucky Allied Services.
DEA's national Drug Take Back Day helps prevent prescription drug misuse and theft by offering the public a safe and convenient way to dispose of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications.
The community is encouraged to bring pills and patches for safe disposal. Liquids, needles or sharps cannot be accepted. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Medicines that remain in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion and misuse. Rates of prescription drug misuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.
