After four years of planning, a $5 million project to replace sixty-year old water lines has gotten underway in Trigg County.

Barkley Lake Water District Customers in the Rockcastle area will begin seeing contractors replacing water lines in the area starting this week. Work will begin in the Prizer Point area and head south.

It's estimated that 65,000 feet of 4-inch line will be replaced during the Lakeside Replacement Project. The district's original 1960's era concrete lines will be replaced with PVC pipe, which can handle higher water pressure.

The project is being funded by a $2.5 million grant, with the water district providing the other half.
