Two people, including a child, are dead after a head-on collision in Livingston County on Tuesday afternoon.
The Livingston County Sheriff's Office said first responders were called to to the 1400 block of US 60.
They said eyewitness accounts and evidence collected at the scene indicated that a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Lindsey Trail of Ledbetter crossed the center line and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 61-year-old Timothy Buford.
Buford was pronouced dead at the scene. A 5-year-old male passenger in Trail's vehicle later succumbed to injuries after being airlifted to an out-of-state hospital.
Meanwhile, a deputy with the assistance of courageous bystanders were able to extricate two other children who were trapped inside the burning Trail vehicle.
Lindsey Trail and the remaining occupants of her vehicle—35-year-old Preston Blake of Ledbetter, a 7-year-old male, and a 3-year-old female—were also airlifted to out-of-state hospitals for treatment.
