It's the fourth and final day of our extreme heat warning, but a separate advisory is still in store for the Fourth of July.

The National Weather Service's extreme heat warning will expire today at 8pm, after another day of stifling heat and humidity will combine for a heat index up to 112 degrees.

Now they have also issued a heat advisory to begin tonight and be in place for our same region through 8pm on Saturday.

The incremental difference is a heat index of around 105 to 108 for Independence Day.

The weekend begins much the same as it began, with about two dozen states baking under heat warnings from Kansas to Michigan to Maine.

No further heat advisories are in the works so far for Sunday and Monday, but high temperatures are still forecast to be around 90, and some heat index readings will still be in triple digits.

Incidentally, as of Thursday, July 2, Paducah's average daily high temperature will be 90 every day from now through August 20. It won't return to 80 until September 25, and 70 on October 20.
