Slight chance of showers, thunderstorms for the weekend

Chances for showers and thunderstorms return Friday and continue into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

High clouds during the day on Friday will give way to showers later, peaking Friday night into Saturday. There is a low end threat for a few stronger storms Friday evening, especially in southeast Missouri.

On Saturday afternoon, a small chance of some storm activity could occur well east of the lakes toward central Kentucky.

Daily chances of mainly afternoon showers and thunderstorms may continue Sunday into the middle of next week.

After a high near 90 on Friday, temperatures will slide a bit to 86 on Saturday and 83 on Sunday. A gradual warming trend is expected next week.
