A trial date has been scheduled for a Princeton man charged with fatally shooting his wife in January.

WPKY reports that Byron Black appeared in Caldwell Circuit where a pretrial conference was set for October 1st, with plans made for a jury trial in September of 2025.

Black is accused of shooting Kelly Black in the back of the head sometime after he reportedly picked her up from the Nashville airport.

Police discovered her body at a Center Street home on January 28th. An Amber Alert was issued when law enforcement could not locate the couple’s 5-year-old daughter.

Police located Black’s pickup truck at a Princeton hotel, where he was arrested and their daughter was found safe. Kentucky State Police testified earlier that a handgun was also discovered inside Black’s truck.

Black is lodged in the Caldwell County Jail charged with murder and abuse of a corpse.
