More than three years after the Mayfield police department was the recipient of a huge act of kindness, they are paying it forward with a charitable act of their own.

Four days following the tragic 2021 tornado in Mayfield, the police department in Lebanon, TN sent four police vehicles to Mayfield Police for their use.

The tornado had destroyed half of the Mayfield Police fleet, and the generous gift allowed them to continue to provide police services during the city's darkest hour.

Lebanon Police Chief Mike Justice directed the cruisers be outfitted with new tires, be serviced with an oil change, and striped the car doors with the Mayfield name.

Now three years after the destruction, Mayfield Police have gifted those same cruisers to the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice training center.

The state is in the midst of creating a second training campus in Madisonville, where these cruisers will be utilized by future recruits to receive their basic training.
