Hawkins will present “How Long Must We Suffer: Bereavement and Mourning in the Civil War.” She will share the stories of the civilians who lived near the battlefield and witnessed the battle and the aftermath in February 1862. She will also teach those who attend how to share these stories with their children.
Hawkins is a graduate of Murray State University and is completing her MA in teaching. She has been a National Park Ranger since 1992.
