Goodman is a 1995 graduate of Graves County High School and together with her husband Casey has three children in the school system. She served as a site base member for Graves County Middle School, and has filled numerous parental volunteer roles for Symsonia Elementary over the past 10 years.
Goodman has a marketing degree from Western Kentucky University, and currently holds the position of Vice President of Software Solutions at KeeFORCE, a local Corporate I.T. and Business Process Automation firm.
She has also been an active member in the community. She served as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Purchase Area Sexual Assault & Child Advocacy Center (now called Lotus), President of the Leadership Paducah Foundation Board, and President of the Mayfield Community Women’s Club. She has also served on various committees within the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce, the Paducah Professional Women’s Club and both the Mayfield and Paducah Rotary Clubs.
Goodman is looking to bring new leadership and a new voice to the Graves County School Board of Education.
“I do not have a personal agenda,” said Goodman. “I chose to run for this office because after some friendly nudging and much prayer, I believe it’s what the Lord wants me to do. I have no idea what He has in store, but I am excited about the opportunity to serve our community in this capacity.”
Goodman is running for the 4th district position that touches students from Symsonia, Lowes, Central, and Farmington schools. Graves County residents that live in the Symsonia, Folsomdale, Housman and Panther areas will have both Joni Flowers Goodman and incumbent Jim Wurth on the ballot on November 3rd.
“Promoting open communication, a sense of community and strong Eagle Pride are my goals moving forward,” stated Goodman. “I am passionate about our school system and our community. I strongly believe that we have tremendous teachers, staff, facilities, and programs in Graves County. By working together, we can continue to create a strong educational experience for our children, and build a district that students, parents, teachers and staff are proud of.”
