Two people were airlifted from a southern Illinois coal mine on Monday night.
According to a statement from Knight Hawk sent on Tuesday afternoon, the two men were injured when a rock fell from the ceiling at the Prairie Eagle East Portal underground coal mine in Perry County.
An ambulance was dispatched in Perry County to the Knight Hawk coal mine around 9:20 p.m.
They said two people were airlifted from the mine, one to Carbondale and one to St. Louis.
No other injuries were reported.
Knight Hawk has six mine locations in Perry and Randolph counties.
