Small plane crashes into solar farm north of Lexington

Two people were hurt after a small plane crashed Thursday afternoon in Harrison County north of Lexington.

Emergency officials said the private plane went down on a solar farm just outside Cynthiana.

Officials said the pilot and a passenger were onboard when they arrived. The pilot was treated for minor injuries, while the passenger was airlifted to UK Hospital, but injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The crash took down a transmission line and cut power to much of downtown Cynthiana. Power was expected to be restored by midnight.

Investigation of the cause of the crash will continue on Friday.
