Murray, Carbondale, Cape Girardeau all nominated for title of Best Small College Town

The homes of all three of our regional universities are in the running for this year's title of the best small college town.

Murray, Carbondale and Cape Girardeau are all among 20 towns with populations under 50,000 that have been nominated by a panel of experts to receive votes in the Readers Choice contest on USA Today.

Murray is currently fourth in the national vote, behind Florence, Alabama; Oxford, Mississippi; and Jacksonville, Alabama.

Other towns include Saratoga Springs, New York; Ruston, Louisiana; Boone, North Carolina; Williamsburg, Virginia and Annapolis, Maryland.

Readers can vote once per day until noon on March 31. The winning small town will be announced on April 9.

USA Today regularly features its Ten Best in various travel and lifestyle categories, including destinations, food and drink, and attractions.
