Our corner of Kentucky is the only part of the state that's not under a weather advisory or warning for the rest of the week.

While the 18 westernmost counties will experience a few inches of rain in the next few days, there's a much more serious forecast for the other 102 counties in the Commonwealth.

In the Pennyrile region, a winter weather advisory is in effect Tuesday for the chance of two inches of snow and a possible glaze of ice.

The same advisory will extend into Wednesday past Owensboro along the length of the Ohio River, and southward to Hopkinsville and Bowling Green, then east to the rest of the state.

In the heart of the winter weather advisory, a winter storm watch has been issued for Louisville, Frankfort, Lexington and almost fifty counties in the northern half of the state. That's where 3 to 5 inches of snow are possible, along with a glaze of ice through Wednesday night.

Finally, the southern tier of Kentucky counties from Bowling Green to the Virginia border are under a flood watch. An initial period of rain will bring about two inches through Wednesday, then two to four additional inches are expected through the weekend.

Across the border in Tennessee, 6 to 8 inches of rain could fall over the course of this week.

It's part of a massive atmospheric river that will flow from the Texas and Louisiana Gulf coast all way to Virginia. Significant flooding could occur, including in the area still recovering from Hurricane Helene in the Carolinas.
