A Hopkinsville man was sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted of two 2021 murders in Christian County.
Kentucky State Police said 53-year-old Bobby Spikes was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for the murder of Candace Marcel and Stanley Bussell, both of Hopkinsville.
On Dec. 9, 2021, troopers found Marcel’s body inside an abandoned vehicle in Trigg County. Investigators later searched Marcel’s home in Hopkinsville and discovered Bussell’s body.
Police said Bussell was the registered owner of the vehicle where Marcel was found.
A jury trial began on Sept. 15 in Christian County Circuit Court and lasted four days before the jury returned guilty verdicts on all charges.
The jury convicted Spikes of two counts of murder, two counts of first-degree robbery, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
