Kentucky farmers choosing the voluntary agriculture license plates generated over $600,000 for ag-related programs.
The donations come from an up to $10 donation made when ordering or renewing special agriculture license plates. The plates generated $606,223.11 in 2022, bringing the total since the program's inception to more than $4.3 million.
The funds are divided evenly among Kentucky FFA, 4-H, and the Department of Agriculture.
The Department of Agriculture uses the money to support programs like the Ag Athlete of the Year Awards, Kentucky Women in Agriculture, the Grain and Forage Center of Excellence at the University of Kentucky, and the Leopold Conservation Award.
Kentucky FFA gives half of the money they receive back to local chapters. 4-H uses its funds to support programs in all 120 counties.
Each of the organizations received $202,074.37.
