A hearing is set to take place this week in west Tennessee to determine if Holly Bobo’s convicted murderer will get a new trial.

The hearing for Zach Adams will take place Wednesday at the Hardin County Courthouse.

Bobo’s murder case drew national attention after the 20-year-old was taken from her home in Decatur County in 2011.

Her remains were found in 2014 in Decatur County. In 2017, Adams was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole plus 50 years for kidnapping, raping, and murdering Bobo.

Adams was denied a new trial for the second time in 2022, but his defense raised several reasons they believed Adams was eligible for a new trial.

Adams’ attorneys are saying the state’s star witness, Jason Autry, has recanted his testimony. With this recantment, his lawyers believe Adams should get a new trial.

Dylan Adams, Zach’s brother, made an Alford Plea in 2018 to a lesser charge of facilitation of murder in exchange for a 35-year sentence.

The third suspect, Jason Autry, pled guilty to his part and testified against Zach Adams. Autry was released from prison in 2020.
