More than 3,000 fake Gibson electric guitars shipped from Asia were seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at the Los Angeles-Long Beach Seaport.
Had the guitars been authentic, they would have been worth $18 million, according to customs officials.
A spokesperson said the seizure was the largest confiscation of counterfeit musical instruments in the seaport's history.
Officials said that last year they intercepted more than $2 billion worth of counterfeit goods entering the country.
The source of the guitars was not revealed while the investigation continues.
