Nearly 500 Fort Campbell soldiers have departed to join thousands of other military personnel at the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary in Washington, D.C. on Saturday.
Officers and soldiers from across Fort Campbell are on their way to march in the Army-wide parade which is expected to include about 6,600 soldiers, 150 vehicles and over 50 aircraft in the celebration.
Hundreds of thousands are expected to attend the festivities.
The 101st Airborne Division Band will march and provide live music.
Fort Campbell soldiers will also participate in an Army-wide fitness competition, sports activities, re-enlistment ceremony and other birthday celebrations.
The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. on a route from the Pentagon across the Potomac River to the National Mall. A fireworks show will follow the parade.
Officials said the last time Washington D.C. hosted a military parade was 1991 to mark the end of the Gulf War.
