319,000 deceased Kentuckians have been purged from voter rolls since 2020

Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams announced Friday that 318,918 deceased voters have been removed from Kentucky’s voter rolls since he took office, bringing the total number of removals since 2020 to 753,181.

In August, 3,664 voters were removed: 3,233 of them deceased voters, 258 who moved out of state, 74 duplicate registrations, 65 who were adjudged mentally incompetent, 18 who voluntarily de-registered, nine identified as non-citizens, and seven who had been convicted of felonies.

Even with ongoing list maintenance, Kentucky’s voter registration continues to surge with 8,266 new voters registering in August, meaning net registration rose by 4,602.

Democratic registration accounts for 41 percent of the electorate, with 1,371,014 voters. Democratic registration rose by 260 voters, a .002 percent increase. Republican registration constitutes 48 percent of the electorate, with 1,624,505 voters. Republican registration grew by 1,849 voters, a .11 percent increase. There are 386,382 voters registered under other political affiliations (mostly Independent), making up 11 percent of the electorate. “Other” registration jumped by 2,493 voters, a .65 percent increase.

The registration deadline to be able to vote in the November General Election is Oct. 5.
