119 million will travel for Christmas, New Year holiday

The American Automobile Association is predicting another record number of travelers for the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

AAA projects the more than 119 million people will travel 50 miles or more from home over the year-end period from this weekend through Wednesday, January 1. That tops the previous record set in 2019.

 AAA expects an additional 3 million travelers this holiday season compared to last year.

Drilling down to our region, the forecast is that more than 6 million vehicles will go on the road for holiday trips through Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. That's up almost 1 percent from last year.
