Several schools from western Kentucky excelled in Kentucky Summative Assessment scores released by the Kentucky Department of Education.
The top high school in the region was Livingston Central. Not only were they at the top in the region, but according to Superintendent Dr. David Meinschein, LCHS ranked in the top five in Kentucky. The school saw a nearly sixteen-point increase in reading and math achievement. They also had more than a ten-point jump in post-secondary readiness.
Meanwhile, Lone Oak Middle School ranked ninth in the state out of 328 middle schools. That also puts LOMS at the top of the region. Principal Coye Elliott told West Kentucky Star that the teacher ranking website niche.com ranked the teachers at Lone Oak Middle as the number one middle school staff in the state.
Two weeks ago, Lone Oak Elementary was named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.
Murray Independent Schools posted impressive scores, as well. Murray High's scores placed them 6th among Kentucky high schools. Murray Middle School was 11th in their category, while Murray Elementary was ninth overall.
Farmington Elementary in Graves County ranked second in the region. Their scores placed them 12th in the state.
In Marshall County, North Marshall Middle School scored in the Very High category and ranked 14th in the state among all middle schools.
According to McCracken County Schools, Reidland Elementary had a huge jump up 52 points from last year. That moved them up to the number 4 elementary school in Kentucky. McCracken County High School also jumped up into the blue category-the highest category of achievement.
