West Kentucky Community and Technical College has announced a new scholarship opportunity for students under 25.

The MacKenzie Scott Opportunities Scholarship is aimed at helping those who may have been hesitant about starting college due to financial concerns.

The needs-based scholarship will be offered beginning this fall and provides each participating student with up to $2,000 for the 2022-23 academic year.

Helping to pay tuition, fees, and materials, the S.O.S will assist students that might not quality for enough federal and state funding to cover those expenses.

Funding is limited and offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

To quality, a student must enter WKCTC as a first time student without an associate degree or higher, be admitted to WKCTC as a degree-seeking student, be no older than 24 on August 15, complete the FAFSA by the first day of the first semester enrolled, complete a Work Ready Scholarship if applicable, enroll and complete at least six credit hours each semester, maintain a 2.0 or above GPA, must show financial need.

The scholarship is made possible with funding from the 2020 donation to WKCTC from philanthropist and author MacKenzie Scott.
