Goreville man charged with child sex crimes

A southern Illinois man faces felony charges related to child sex crimes.

According to court records, 37-year-old Anthony J. Mallett of Goreville was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a minor, two counts of production of child pornography and five counts of dissemination of child pornography in the Johnson County Circuit Court.

Illinois State Police and Johnson County deputies searched Mallet’s home on February 25 on suspicion of the download and trade of child sexual abuse material online.

Mallett was taken into custody after investigators found evidence related to the alleged sexual assault of a minor and child sexual abuse material.

He is currently being held at the Johnson County Jail. His next court appearance is April 9.
