A Sunday morning accident where a vehicle struck a Mayfield home leads to charges against the driver.
Mayfield Police said they responded around 5 am to a residence on South 10th Street. The homeowner stated they could hear something outside that sounded like a water leak.
When officers arrived at the scene, it was discovered that a vehicle had struck the residence causing extensive damage to the property, and had created a gas leak.
The Mayfield Fire Department and Atmos Energy were notified, and assisted with the leak. Two individuals were reported to have been in the vehicle, and had fled the scene. Both individuals were located a couple of blocks away.
Through investigation, it was learned that the operator of the vehicle was 20-year-old Tautiana Garnett of Mayfield.
Garnett was taken into custody, and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief,
no operator's license and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Garnett was also served with an active warrant for her arrest out of Graves County for failure to appear. She was lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
