Two men were arrested on drug and other charges in the Bardwell area Thursday.

The River Counties Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force arrested two individuals in the 2600 block of KY 1181.

In February, the Task Force received information that Thomas Bishop and Jerry Noonan were selling methamphetamine from a garage on the property. Over the following weeks, controlled buys of methamphetamine were conducted and each time both Bishop and Noonan were involved in the transactions.

On Thursday, the Task Force executed a search warrant on the property. When approaching the property Task Force Officers observed Noonan running from the garage and a foot pursuit was initiated. Noonan ran to the back yard and was observed throwing a white object into an above ground pool, while continuing to flee on foot.

He was also observed throwing another object into a brush pile. Task Force officers were able to catch Noonan, and a physical altercation ensued that led to Noonan being tazed. Even after a taser deployment Noonan continued to resist and attempted to flee. Task Force Officers placed Noonan under arrest, and he had to be evaluated by EMS due to the altercation.

When Task Force Officers retraced Noonan’s steps they observed a white bag in the pool. When the bag was retrieved it contained over 90 grams of methamphetamine. TFO’s also located a loaded .22 caliber handgun in a brush pile.

Noonan is a convicted felon and cannot lawfully possess a firearm. During a search of Noonan .22 caliber ammunition was located on his person, as well as drug paraphernalia. Cash believed to be proceeds of illegal narcotics sales was also seized from Noonan.

Thomas Bishop was also located in the garage on the property and was taken into custody without incident. Bishop was also found to be in possession of a large quantity of valium during the search that he did not possess a prescription for.

Bishop and Noonan were transported to the Ballard County Jail.
