In its early afternoon briefing, the National Weather Service in Paducah indicates a tornado risk for the Quad State area.
Currently, there is a wind advisory for the area until 1 am Saturday. South winds are expected to gust to 40-50 miles per hour ahead of the storms this afternoon and evening.
Forecasters said there is potential for a cluster or line of severe storms to produce damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes as it moves across the region late this afternoon into the early morning hours Saturday. It's expected to begin once the work/school day is completed.
Storrms will be moving fast, possibly up to 70 miles per hour.
More severe storms and heavy rain is possbile Saturday mainly over west Kentucky and southwest Indiana.
