Two Paducah residents are behind bars charged with trafficking in fentanyl from a home on Levin Avenue.

Paducah Police learned back in August that alleged trafficking of fentanyl was taking place at a home on Levin Avenue occupied by 58-year-old Sheila A. Shumpert and 48-year-old Lavance Davenport. After a months-long investigation, detectives caught up to and arrested Shumpert through a traffic stop on Thursday.

Detectives searched the Levin Avenue home and spotted Davenport run out the back of the house and hide in a shed. He was arrested and police located over 3,500 fentanyl pills in the home.

Shumpert and Davenport were both out on bond from a case in 2022 where they were accused of selling fentanyl.

Further charges are expected in the case.
