Two people were airlifted to Nashville after a rollover crash in Graves County on Thursday.

Sheriff Jon Hayden said he was traveling on Old Dublin Road when he drove up on a vehicle that was upside down in the middle of the road.

It appeared that the driver had been ejected during the rollover.
Another person was found to be trapped inside the vehicle.

Fire and EMS personnel utilized mechanical means to remove the passenger. The driver became combative. He began interfering with first responders' efforts to free the passenger, and had to be restrained.

An Air Evac helicopter transported the passenger, 31-year-old Devin Z. Davis of New Concord to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville with serious injuries.

The driver, 33-year-old Jonathan L. West of Mayfield was transported to Jackson Puchase Medical Center, and later flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.

West was charged with DUI, assault and obstructing first responders.

The eventual investigation of the crash revealed that West was traveling at unsafe speeds, left the roadway and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to overturn onto the roadway.
