Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree will face a trial this summer as the case accusing him of four misdemeanors moves forward.

At a pre-trial conference between special prosecutor Jason Darnell and Acree's attorney Ken Haggard, the decision to bring the case to court in mid-July was made.

Haggard told WKDZ that Darnell and the state are seeking the maximum and that there would be no mediation or plea deal. Haggard also told them that there are several motions expected to be filed from all sides before the trial begins. Haggard said that another pre-trial conference is slated for late June.

The Chief District Judge of the 58th Judicial District in Marshall County, Jack Telle, is presiding over Acree's case as a special judge.

Acree is accused of official misconduct, assault, and terroristic threatening after an alleged altercation with Crystal Smith in January of 2022 after she was arrested and charged with burglarizing Acree's home. He is also accused of official misconduct after allegedly booking a room at Lake Barkley State Resort Park for free as a part of a drug operation when it was actually for personal use.

Acree has pled "not guilty" to all four charges.
