Tree branch crashes through windshield, impales driver during Graves County storm

High winds during Friday's storms in Graves County caused a large tree limb to punch through a truck's windshield and impale the driver.

Deputies said 40-year-old Kyle Kirks of Lynnville was driving a pickup on KY 97 south of KY 94 when the wind blew a large branch down from a tree next to the roadway. The branch crashed through the windshield and struck Kirks, who was still in the drivers seat when deputies arrived.

The Cuba volunteer fire department and Mayfield/Graves EMS removed Kirks from the truck and he was transported to Mercy Health Hospital in Paducah.
