UPDATE:
Kentucky State Police have released a preliminary report on the high-speed pursuit and police-involved shooting today in Trigg County.

KSP's Critical Incident Response Team was requested by the Trigg County Sheriff's Office to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred at approximately 11:50 am. 

CIRT detectives' preliminary investigation indicates that state troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the 42-mile marker of I-24 in Lyon County when the vehicle fled. 

The pursuit continued into Trigg County where Trigg County Sheriff's deputies joined in. The suspect vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle collision near the Cadiz exit at US 68.

The suspect exited his vehicle and fled from law enforcement on foot. During the foot pursuit, the suspect began shooting at law enforcement, striking one deputy. 

Three deputies with Trigg County fired their agency-issued firearm, striking the individual. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene by theTrigg County coroners office. WKDZ reported the identity of the suspect as 21-year-old Jermaine Terrell Jackson Jr., of Florissant, Missouri. 

One deputy sustained injuries and was transported to a medical facility, where he is in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

KSP investigates officer-involved shootings throughout the commonwealth as requested by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. 


ORIGINAL STORY:
A high-speed chase on I-24 Tuesday morning ended with an officer-involved shooting in Trigg County.

WKDZ reported Kentucky State Police tried to initiate a traffic stop in Lyon County.

The driver, yet to be identified, fled at speeds over 100 miles per hour and exited at the Cadiz-Hopkinsville exit, wrecked his vehicle on Broadbent Boulevard and began firing at officers from several agencies.

Kentucky State Police is handling the investigation.
